An Indian company shortlisted by the Tender Evaluation Team in the bidding for the development of the Royal Science and Technology Park in Matsapha was blacklisted in Ethiopia for attempting to bribe a procurement officer, our investigations have revealed.
The company is one of three selected from a total of 14 whereby only six turned up for the opening of bids. The three are Jaguar Overseas limited, Angelique International and Overseas Infrastructure Alliance.
The Public Procurement and Property Administration Agency of Ethiopia slapped the company with an indefinite blacklisting in 2010 as indicated in the table below.
It is said only two names would be submitted and the team would visit projects undertaken by the companies in other countries to verify their profiles. Principal Secretary in the ministry of information, communications and technology Nathaniel Mahluza said it would be premature to comment at this moment because they had just completed the evaluation report.
He said the media would be informed next week as this was a topical subject. The company did not reply to our questionnaire sent Thursday.
