Office of Government Communications Affairs is expected to speak on the current health conditions of PM Meles Zenawi within the next few hours, it was learnt.

A press conference called by the communications office this afternoon is expected to break the deadlock regarding Prime Minister Meles’s recent health status which has dominated the news headlines especially for the last few days.

The communications office also may receive several questions from media houses regarding other hot issues such as the recent saga between the police and the Muslim community.

The communications office has been subjected to criticism for failing to inform the public regarding Meles’s health.

No government official could give public information about the PM, who missed the AU summit and the parliament, which was closed on Tuesday for recess. It was the Senegalese President, Macky Sall, who first gave official confirmation that Meles is ill and has caused him miss the continental summit.
